Attach a Release Condition
from Content
MyFIRE allows adding
release restrictions (prerequisites) to learning activities and content items
from the course content page. This means instructors have the option of setting
pieces of content to be hidden from students until after the student has triggered
the release of the module, submodule, or topic by completing another step
within the course. (e.g., Week 8 Module remains closed until the student has
completed the course valuation in Week 7). This tutorial demonstrates how to
add a release condition to modules, submodules, and topics in content.
Note: The release
condition should be added to the module, submodule, or topic that should remain
hidden in the course until the release condition is satisfied.
- Access the desired course.
- Select content &
assessments tab from the navigation bar.
3. Select the desired module or submodule from
the table of contents.
4. If adding the release condition to a module or submodule,
navigate to the module or submodule description area. If adding
release conditions to content topics, such as videos, power points,
assignments, discussions, and quizzes, navigate to where the specified topic is located in the module or submodule.
5. If adding the release condition to a module or submodule,
skip to step 7. If adding release conditions to content topics, such as
videos, power points, assignments, discussions, and quizzes, select the drop-down
arrow to the right of the specified topic’s title.
6. Select edit properties in place.
7. Then select add dates and restrictions.
8. Beneath release conditions, select create.
9. In the pop-up window, choose the condition type that
needs to be added.
10. Set the condition details in the condition details menu.
Complete all fields.
Note: Detail options will differ depending on the release
condition type chosen in step 9.
- Once finished selecting the
condition details, select create.
11. Then select update. If Update is not selected, the
release condition will not be saved and added to the module, submodule, or
topic. The steps will need to be repeated.
