This tutorial demonstrates how to navigate the Content &
Assessment page in a course in MyFIRE.
1. Navigate to the desired course.
a. Students will gain access to the course content
up to 1 week prior to the start of the course. This is your Get Started week.
You will be able to see that the course has opened to you because the
navigation bar will include the Content & Assessment tab.
2. Once access to the content is available, select
Content & Assessments at the top of the page. This page will house the
content for your course. Review the available resources carefully.
a. Get Started - This module contains key
information for your course.
i. View this section to find resources that will
assist you in getting started with your course. This section includes the
course syllabus, course checklist, meet the class discussion, and important
additional course resources that should be reviewed.
b. Student Acknowledgement and Attendance
Confirmation Survey - As a student, you are required to complete the Student
Acknowledgement and Attendance Confirmation survey (SAAC) in all of your
courses. The Student Acknowledgement & Attendance Confirmation is required
to be submitted during the drop/add week to track student participation and
attendance. Follow the Student Acknowledgement survey directions to complete
the survey.
c. Essential Information Survey - This survey will
only be available in some courses and will not be available in all courses. If
this survey is in your course, it is required to access the content. Complete
the survey by answering each question.
3. Once the content or weekly modules become
available, read and work through each module.
a. In main campus face-to-face, CC+, and Dual
Enrollment courses, the modules may be set up differently in each class based
on your instructor’s discretion.
b. In online and in extension site courses, each
module will list an aim page, learn page(s), activities, and wrap-up page.
i. Aim - View this information to find the learning
objectives and an introduction for the module. The learning objectives are the
learning goals for the module and course.
ii. Learn - View this section to find and review all
required resources to complete activities/assessments for the module. Resources
may include chapters to read, videos, audio files, PowerPoint presentations,
web pages, and more.
iii. Activities & Assessments - The activities
and/or assessments listed below the Learn section in online courses will be for
you to apply and demonstrate the knowledge or skill that you have learned in
the specified module or class. Activities and assessments may include
assignments, discussions, quizzes, checklists, surveys, or self-assessments.
Note: It is important to read the instructions for the activities and
assessments carefully as each activity or assessment will require an action
from you and will be different. The directions will tell you how to complete
the activity. If you have questions about the directions, please contact your
instructor.
If needed, refer to the tutorials below to know how to complete specific
activities:
· Submit a File to an Assignment
Note: When naming an assignment document, MyFIRE will not accept
documents with special characters in the title or Mac files. Upload either a
.docx or .pdf file instead.
Note: Students will receive a confirmation email to their SEU email
address when a file has been submitted to the assignment.
· Post and Reply to a Discussion Topic
Note: Some quizzes may require the use of SEU’s proctoring tool.
iv. Module Wrap-up - If this section is included in
your course, view this section to find a review of what you learned in this
module and provide a small glimpse into what you will be learning in the next
module.
4. Search for specific content in the course by
using the search box above the table of contents.
5. When viewing module items, use the left and
right arrows to navigate through the course content.
6. Next to the navigation arrows, select the
corresponding icons to (1) download the page, (2) open in a new tab, or (3)
open in full screen mode.
