Users can receive instant notifications outside of MyFIRE regarding their courses sent through email. This tutorial demonstrates how to enable and manage instant notifications from MyFIRE.

1.     Once you are logged into MyFIRE, select the profile in the top right corner.

2.     A drop-down menu will appear. Select Notifications.

3.     Select how often you would like to receive a summary of activity for your courses by selecting the frequency drop-down menu. The options include never, daily, or weekly.

a.     If selected daily, determine what time you would like to receive the email notifications by selecting the time drop-down menu. Note: The time is listed in Eastern Standard Time.

b.     If selected weekly, determine what day and time you would like to receive the email notifications by selecting the time and day drop-down menus.

4.     Choose whether you want to receive notifications by email or mobile by checking the appropriate checkbox.

a.     Note: If choosing to receive notifications for discussions, you must also subscribe to forums, topics, and threads.

Note: Learners receive a notification in MyFIRE and in the Pulse app under the following conditions for assignments & quizzes:

If the assignment or quiz has a due date, the learner is notified two days before the due date.

If the assignment or quiz has no due date, but has an end date, the learner is notified two days before the end date.

Learners do not receive a notification in MyFIRE and Pulse app under the following conditions:

Learner completed the assignment by submitting to the assignment folder.

Learner completed the quiz according to the defined completion criteria (attempt submitted or score threshold achieved).

The assignment or quiz has no dates attached.

The assignment or quiz includes only a start date.

5.     Turn on custom notifications to allow future courses to send you notifications by selecting the corresponding checkbox. Note: The custom notification of including your grade value when a professor has provided a grade is already turned on by default. We recommend keeping this setting enabled.

6.     If desired, you can exclude receiving notifications from certain courses by selecting manage my course exclusions.

a.     If choosing to exclude a course from the notifications, a pop-up window will appear. Scroll down the pop-up window utilizing the scroll bar, to locate the course that you do not want to receive notifications about.

b.     Once the course has been located, select the ‘X’ icon to the right of the course title to remove the course from the notifications list. Note: Keep “Southeastern University” and “Student Portal” enrolled with receiving notifications. If you remove Southeastern University or Student Portal from your notifications list, you could miss out on very important announcements about the MyFIRE system and features. Do not remove SEU or Student Portal from the notifications course list.

c.     Once finished excluding courses, select close at the bottom of the pop-up window.

7.     Once finished choosing your notification settings, select save at the bottom of the screen.
