Create a Grade Exemption on a Single Grade Item

An instructor can provide an implicit reason why a student does not have a score for a grade item by utilizing grade exemptions. A blank grade or a zero (0) grade can mean that the student has not submitted or attempted the assessment, the assessment has not been graded by the professor, or that the student has failed the assessment entirely. Utilizing an exemption setting supports differentiation for a legitimate exemption. This tutorial demonstrates how to create multiple grade exemptions for a single student in MyFIRE.

1.    Access the desired course.

2.    Select grades in the navigation bar.

3.    Then select enter grades.

4.    Locate the desired grade item.

5.    Then select the drop-down arrow to the right of the grade item title.

6.    A drop-down menu will appear. Select enter grades.

7.    Scroll down the page and select the checkbox to the left of the students’ names who should receive an exempt for the specified grade item.

8.    Select exempt above the table. Once selected, the exemption(s) will be noted in the scheme column.

9.    Then select save and close at the bottom of page.
