In some courses in MyFIRE, your instructor may include video
assignments for you to complete on the Content & Assessments page. This
tutorial demonstrates how to submit a video assignment from the content tab.
1. Login to MyFIRE and access the desired course.
2. Select Content & Assessments in the
navigation bar at the top of the page.
3. Select the module or submodule that houses the
video assignment.
4. Select the video assignment title. Note: The
title may not state that it is a video assignment. Refer to the instructor or
course syllabus for the exact title. However, video assignments are noted as an
external learning tool.
5. When the page refreshes, students and
instructors can view the assignment due date and instructions.
6. To add a video to the assignment, students are
able to choose from the following options:
a. Camera: This option allows you to record
yourself using your computer camera and microphone.
i. Once selected, a pop-up window will appear.
Select Record.
ii. When you are finished recording, select Stop.
iii. The window will refresh and you will be able to
review your recording.
iv. Next, decide if you would like to:
1. Discard the recording and try again.
2. Keep the recording and close the window.
3. Download the recording onto your computer.
v. If Keep the recording is selected, the pop-up
window will disappear, and the page will return to the video assignment. Your
submission will appear next to Add Video. It may take time for the recording to
finish loading.
vi. Once the recording has loaded, you will be able
to preview the video below.
b. Upload a video:
i. Select the Upload a video option.
ii. Once selected, a pop-up window will appear. You
can upload a video from your Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or upload a file
from your computer by selecting the dropbox.
iii. Once you have selected your file, the window
will refresh. You can add more video files by selecting Add Video, or select
Begin Upload.
iv. The pop-up window will disappear, and the page
will return to the video assignment. Your submission will appear next to Add
Video. It may take time for the recording to finish loading.
v. Once the recording has loaded, you will be able
to preview the video below.
c. Record Audio:
i. Select Record using only your microphone.
ii. Once selected, a pop-up window will appear.
Select Record.
iii. When you are finished recording, select Stop.
iv. The window will refresh and you will be able to
review your recording.
v. Next, decide if you would like to:
1. Discard the recording and try again.
2. Keep the recording and close the window.
3. Download the recording onto your computer.
vi. If Keep the recording is selected, the pop-up
window will disappear, and the page will return to the video assignment. Your
submission will appear next to Add Video. It may take time for the recording to
finish loading.
vii. Once the recording has loaded, you will be able
to preview the recording below.
7. To submit the recording to the assignment,
select Prepare Submission above the recorded video.
8. You will be able to choose which video you would
like to include. If you have recorded or uploaded more than one video, select
the checkbox next to the desired video and select Submit.
9. The page will refresh to the video assignment
page. You will be able to see the date and time that you submitted the
assignment and that your submission is now pending evaluation.
10. If
your instructor has designated this assignment as a peer reviewed assignment,
you will be able to see other students’ submissions under peer review. Refer to
the Peer Review a Video Assignment tutorial for further instructions on how to
peer review other students’ submissions.
11. Students
are able to view their own submission(s) at the bottom of the screen. Submit a
self-evaluation by either typing in the self-evaluation field for text feedback
or by selecting the camera icon to the left to record video feedback.
