Creating
modules and submodules in a course within MyFIRE allow for the course content
to be organized. Through organized modules and submodels, students will be able
to navigate through the course content based on the instructor’s preferred
pathway for the students. This tutorial demonstrates how to add a module and
submodule to a course.
1. Navigate
to the designated course in MyFIRE.
2. Select content & assessment at the top of the page in the navigation bar.
3. Select add a module on the left side of the page under the table of contents.
Within the “add a module” field, type the title of the module and select enter.
4. The
page will refresh with the title of the module at the top of the screen and the
banner will state that the module was added successfully.
5. Once
the module has been added, if desired, on the right side of the page select add
dates and restrictions to add availability dates and restrictions for the
module. Note: If start and end dates are added to the module, any item
nested within the module or submodule will be hidden from students’ view if
outside of the date access window.
6. If
the module needs to be hidden from students’ view, select the eyeball icon to the right of the topic title. Once selected, a toggle will appear.
a. Slide the toggle to change the eye icon between visible and hidden. The module will be visible
by default.
i. Visibleis with an open-eye
icon.
ii. Hiddenis an eye icon with a
strikethrough
7. To
add a description to the module select add a description. A text box
will appear.
a. Formatthe description as
desired. If needed, refer to the utilize the MyFIRE Editor tutorial.
8. Select update to save the newly created description.
9. If
a submodule is desired, locate the module that the submodule should be nested
within in the course.
10. Next,
add a sub-module by selecting add sub-module under the designated
module. Title the sub-module in the add a sub-module field by typing
into the editable field.
11. Then
select enter. When the page refreshes, the newly created submodule will
be listed with a gray border within the module.
