Brainfuse: Getting Started with Language Lab
Brainfuse is a free online
tutoring service that students can access through MyFire. Language Lab is one
of the many tools that Brainfuse offers. It contains the vocabulary builder
which offers tutoring for a variety of languages. Students will be able to
expand their vocabulary and skills through flashcards, practice tests, and
more. The following tutorial demonstrates how to access the Language Lab
academic tool.
- Navigate to seu.onelogin.com/portal.
- If you have logged into the seu.onelogin.com/portal,
select the MyFIRE icon within your Southeastern dashboard.
3. Once the MyFIRE icon has been selected and the MyFIRE login
was successful, you will be redirected to the MyFIRE user homepage. If
directions are needed on how to navigate through the homepage, refer to the user homepage instructions.
4. Select Need Help from the nav-bar.
5. Select Online Tutoring: Brainfuse from the drop-down
menu.
6. A new page will load the Brainfuse Homepage.
7. Scroll down on the main page to see the Brainfuse
academic tools.
8. Select the Language Lab tile.
9. Once in the Language Lab, students can select the drop-down
menu to choose from the languages that Brainfuse offers tutoring for.
10. When check Tutor Availability is selected, students
will see that HelpNow tutors are available 24/7.
11. Select preferences and check the tutoring with Audio box to communicate aloud with the tutors.
12. When ready to meet with a tutor, select Get Live Help to
start a session.
Note: You may need to wait a moment before a tutor joins
the meeting.
13. The Language Lab Whiteboard will appear.
14. Utilize the Whiteboard’s editing tools to communicate
with the tutor and learn.
15. When the session is complete, students can email
transcripts, replay the session, and download a receipt of
the session..
16. The other tool in the Brainfuse Language Lab is the
vocabulary builder. Select Start Now to complete games, quizzes,
flashcards, and hear spoken pronunciation to learn a new language.
17. When the page refreshes, select the language you
would like to learn.
18. Choose a module to begin learning.
19. Select a category of words.
20. In the study mode, students will be presented with a
photo and will hear the pronunciation of the word that goes along with
it.
21. Select Next Word, when ready to move on..
22. In flashcard mode, students will see a photo without
a description and will be able to select the photo to reveal the description.
23. To begin, select Start Game.
24. Select the image to view and hear the word that goes along with it.
25. In multiple choice mode, students will see four
different photos with one description and must select the photo that matches
the description.
26. Click on the photo that matches the description.
27. At the end of the quiz, select go to next category to be presented with a whole new group of words.
28. In test mode, students can see what they have
learned by typing in the word that describes the photo.
29. Type the word that describes the photo into the textbox.
30. To exit the module, select Stop Game from the top
right corner.
